4 ‘enemies’ blacklisted by Ken Agyapong appointed to Bawumia campaign  –

The Mahamudu Bawumia Presidential campaign team has named four people to its campaign despite strong reservations by Kennedy Agyapong,  Bawumia’s Contender in the NPP flagbearership race.

The National Executive Committe(NEC) and National Council of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) has approved the campaign team presented by flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

The team included Yaw Adomako Baafi, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson, Dennis Miracles Aboagye and Frederick Opare-Ansah  who are all people allegedly blacklisted by Kennedy Agyapong.

Kennedy Agyapong reportedly accepted to join Bawumia’s campaign for the 2024 elections, after  he outlined some conditions that the Bawumia team said will be difficult to guarantee.

The report emerged out of a meeting held between Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong after the NPP flagbearership race.

Details of the meeting according to Ralph Agyapong is summed up below: “Why didn’t they say exactly what transpired during the meeting? Why are they being lazy with the information? The meeting was not cool. They should be transparent so that we can all come together and beg Kennedy Agyapong. Anyone who tells you that the meeting was fruitful[…] I wasn’t at the meeting but Raphael Agyapong was there. He said that Kennedy Agyapong told Bawumia that he would campaign for him but he would have to cut out certain people from his team.

“Ken (Agyapong) told him he doesn’t want to be on the same campaign platform as Ursula Owusu, Hawa Koomson, Dennis Miracles, Wontumi, Adomako-Baafi. But my question is how can Bawumia win an election without these people in his campaign team? Indirectly Ken is telling them he won’t join the campaign,” he said.

Alleged ‘Crimes’ against Kennedy Agyapong By the Four

Dennis Miracles Aboagye is a presidential staffer during the NPP flagbearership race accused Ken Agyapong of having an over-bloated sense of importance in the run-up to the November 4 vote.

“We also, in the media, make people feel…There is something my godfather always says: You can have an overrated impression of yourself. He’s too sure about how many votes he can get in the NPP,” he said.

Miracles Aboagye has since backtracked after the vote stating that the Assin Central MP is a critical asset to the NPP ahead of the 2024 electioneering campaign.

Kennedy Agyapong had a war of words with Frederick Opare-Ansah campaign manager of Bawumia.

Kennedy Agyapong accused him of requesting for USD20,000 as a condition to support him.

Ursula Owusu-Ekuful and Mavis Hawa Koomson, serving lawmakers and ministers were also on record to have spoken in harsh terms against Kennedy whiles stating their support for Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia as leader of the NPP come 2024.

In a media interview at her constituency on the day of the vote [November 4, 2023], Mrs Owusu-Ekuful said “I know what the kingmakers in this constituency have told me,” she supported her claims, adding “Bawumia will secure nothing less than 80 per cent of the votes.”

Speaking at a gathering in Kasoa, Hawa Koomson also pointed to government-appointed roles that Agyapong and his wife were holding to buttress her point that he had no moral right to criticize the government or delink himself from it.

“You are Board Chairman of Ghana Gas, still serving in the role, you haven’t resigned. Your wife is Board Chair of Shippers Council from 2017 till date. So, your wife and yourself are all invested in this government.

Hawa Koomson told a gathering in Kasoa prior to the day of the vote said: “Your wife has given policy direction since 2017 till date, you are still at Ghana Gas, then you turn around to say anyone in the current government must not be elected. Then you are also disqualified. Addai-Nimoh is the ideal candidate then.”

Kennedy Agyapong placed second during the November 4 polls garnered nearly 40% with Bawumia winning by 61%.
