The past week has seen a number confrontation between the Majority and Minority sides of Parliament. The two have disagreed over a number of issues captured in the 2022 budget. Though the Majority led by Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah see nothing wrong with the budget, the Minority led by Hon. Haruna Iddrisu have bemoaned parts of the budget. This situation saw the rejection and approval of that same budget in 5 days.
Reacting to what could solve the impasse, Kwesi Pratt on Alhaji and Alhaji has blamed the Majority for trying to be smart and accepting the roles of the First Deputy and Second Deputy Speakers. He noted that the NDC played a smart one on the NPP on January 7 and the NPP are being made to pay dearly for that decision they took. In Kwesi’s words, the Minority have clipped the wings of the Majority. He called on both sides of the house to come to a dialogue and solve the impasse.
According to Kwesi Pratt, the Majority side should know that they lost their power by accepting those two positions and for now all they can do is to humble themselves and come to the negotiating table. He blasted certain MPs on the side of the Majority and called them to drop their pride and make concessions. On the side of the Minority, Kwesi called on them to make sure they see the concessions that have been agreed on before they approved the approve the table. He was of the view that a government that cannot account to her people shouldn’t be allowed to impose taxes on the people
