Renowned talented artist Kay Kay Ribane, known as Kokona Ribane, attributes his bold creativity to his family upbringing. As part of the esteemed family creative trio, Dear Ribane, alongside sisters Tebogo and Manthe, Ribane has left an indelible mark on the creative landscape, collaborating with global brands like Gucci, G-Star RAW, and Chimi eyewear.

In an exclusive interview with Sowetan S Mag, Ribane reflects on the profound influence of his upbringing, stating, “Growing up, our perception of the world and creativity stemmed from home. Our parents instilled confidence in us, fostering an environment where our ideas mattered globally.”

Ribane’s creative journey extends beyond collaborations, as he has carved a niche for himself as a sartorial force, serving as a creative director, director, and performance artist. He is also the co-founder of Usurpa, Africa’s first digital gallery, and the founder of Mungu, a children’s clothing range inspired by his son, Kairo.
