The Federal Government declares that no court has the power to halt the inauguration of Tinubu

Despite continued legal challenges and protests, The Sun reports that the inauguration of President-elect Bola Tinubu and his deputy, Kashim Shettima, will go forward as planned on May 29.

At a World Press Conference called to inform Nigerians and the international community about the activities scheduled for the 2023 Presidential Inauguration, Boss Mustapha, Chairman of the Presidential Transition Committee and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, made this announcement.

Mustapha highlighted the democratic values and lessons in nationhood that this approaching event represents, emphasizing its historical relevance for Nigeria and Africa. Despite the pending dispute, he pledged that the inauguration would proceed in conformity with the country’s Constitution and Electoral Act.

On May 25, President Muhammadu Buhari will award Tinubu and Shettima the National Honors of GCFR and GCON as part of the transition process.

Mustapha said that the President has directed the appropriate government agencies to work with the President-elect’s team during the transition period.

In addition to the Inauguration Committee, which is headed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Transition Documents Committee, which is headed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, and the Security, Facilities, and Intelligence Committee, which is headed by the National Security Adviser, are the three main committees established by the Presidential Transition Committee.

Mustapha has released the official timetable for the 2023 Presidential Inauguration, which will be shown live on national television and streamed online. He said that the fact that journalists from all over the world were present at the press conference was evidence of the desire of Nigerians and the international community to back the peaceful transfer of power.
