Presidential Inaugural Committee Sends Peter Obi Invite To Tinubu’s Inauguration

Nigeria approaches May 29, 2023, when Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress will be sworn in as President, the Presidential Inaugural Committee has invited Peter Obi to the event.

SaharaReporters on Tuesday sighted the invitation letter for Obi of the Labour Party, who came third in the presidential election of February 25 behind Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, Tinubu secured 8,794,726 votes, Atiku had 6,984,520, and Obi polled 6,101,533 votes.

Buhari Jets Out To Accra For Maritime Security Summit

President Muhammadu Buhari will today depart Abuja for Accra, Ghana to attend the 3rd Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the Gulf of Guinea Commission, (GGC) convened by President Nana Akuffo-Ado of Ghana.

The president, according to a statement issued on Monday by his Media Adviser, Femi Adesina, is billed to participate and deliver remarks at the high-level discussion on strategies for strengthening peace and security in the fight against maritime-related crimes in the region.

As the immediate past Chairman of the Assembly, President Buhari had championed collective efforts by Member States of the region, the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the Gulf of Guinea Commission (GGC) and their partners to address and prevent piracy.

Three Rep Members, Over 3,000 Supporters Dump PDP In Imo

Three members of the House of Representatives from Imo State have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, with over 3,000 supporters.

Imo Governor, Hope Uzodinma received the defectors into the party at the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square, Owerri, the state capital on Monday.

The federal lawmakers, Hon. Ikenna Elezieanya, Hon. Bede Ekeh, Hon. Henry Nwawuba and a host of other individuals made the move ahead of the November 11 governorship elections in the state.

Fleeing Terrorists Kill Six In Plateau Communities

Atleast six persons were on Monday confirmed dead after suspected terrorists attacked residents in two separate communities of Plateau State.

It was learnt that while two persons were killed in Wereng village, Kuru community, Jos South Local Government Area, by the fleeing terrorists, four other persons were killed in Heipang community, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state.

The two separate incidents, it was further gathered occurred on Sunday night.

The spokesman for the military task force in charge of maintaining peace in the state, Capt. Oya James, confirmed the killing of two persons in Jos South community to The PUNCH in Jos on Monday.
