As reported by People Daily, Chief Inspector Jackson Tallam ordered the tampering of the CCTV system after Albert Ojwang was murdered. He summoned a technician and instructed that the CCTV be interfered with to cover up the incident.

Investigations by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) revealed that Tallam and his secretary, Constable Sharon Cheboi, supervised the entire process.

The technician involved, 23-year-old Kevin Matava, confessed to tampering with the CCTV system after being instructed by the two officers.

In his statement to detectives, Matava said that on June 8 at 6:22 am, he was called by Constable Cheboi, who told him to report to the station. Upon arriving, he was escorted to OCS Tallam’s office, where the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) was located.

Tallam asked him to delete CCTV footage from June 6 and 7, but the technician said only formatting the whole storage device was possible, which would erase everything.
