President William Ruto has expressed confidence in securing a second term in office, citing the supposed progress his administration has made since taking over in 2022.
Speaking during a development tour in Kisumu County on Thursday, May 29, 2025, the President reiterated that his government remains focused on transformative projects that directly impact their lives.
Ruto highlighted the formation of a broad-based government, which brought together leaders from across the political divide, including allies of ODM party leader Raila Odinga. He described the coalition as a show of unity and a commitment to inclusive development.
“Mimi na Baba tumekubaliana kupanga maendeleo na umoja ya Kenya. Ile kundi ingine ni watu wa kisirani, hasira, chuki na ukabila,” Ruto said.
(“Baba (Raila Odinga) and I have agreed to plan for Kenya’s development and unity. The other group consists of people who are quarrelsome, angry, hateful, and tribalistic.”)
Ruto Credits Development Track Record
The Head of State said his administration was built on the promise of delivering results and lifting the lives of ordinary citizens. He touted ongoing infrastructure and service delivery projects as a sign of progress, pledging to deepen reforms and expand opportunities for Kenyans from all walks of life.
“Ninawahakikishia Wakenya kuwa Kenya hii tutaibadilisha kwa miradi na mipango ya maendeleo. Wale watu wengine hawana ajenda yoyote, wala mpango, sera, na maono yoyote. Wale tutawamalizia asubuhi na mapema,” he said.
(“I assure Kenyans that we will transform this country through development projects and plans. Those other people have no agenda, no plan, no policies, and no vision. We will finish them off early in the morning”)
Ruto further accused the opposition of wasting time on political theatrics instead of addressing national development. He claimed that opposition leaders constantly push the country into political tension rather than offering credible solutions to economic or social challenges.
“Wale watu wanataka kutuingiza siasa mfululizo tunawaambia jameni hatuna time. Sisi ni watu wa kazi bila break,” he remarked.
(“Those people who want to drag us into endless politics, we are telling them, please, we have no time. We are people who work without a break”)
