Ben Githae Makes A U-Turn As He Quits Singing Political Songs Citing The Following Reason.

Popular gospel artist Ben Githae has officially announced that he will stop producing political campaign songs.

Announcing the decision via his official Facebook page, this pivot comes after years of crafting viral anthems like “Tano Tena” in 2017, which supported Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto, and “Baba Tosha” in 2021 for Raila Odinga.

Githae’s politically charged tracks have long been a staple in Kenya’s election cycles, reflecting a deep rooted tradition where musicians amplify political messages, as seen in recent analyses of the industry’s influence.

The timing of this shift is notable, following the release of his latest song, “Kindiki ni witu,” which means Kindiki is ours, on May 23, 2025, praising Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.

This song, launched during a meeting with Mt Kenya artistes at Kindiki’s Karen home, highlighted his leadership qualities and commitment to farmers and learners.

The reason for exiting political songs according to him is because he wants to focus on Gospel ministry.

However, Githae’s decision to return to gospel ministry suggests a strategic retreat, possibly influenced by the current socio political climate.

Kenya has recently witnessed widespread protests against tax hikes and government corruption, with public trust in political figures waning.

Githae’s announcement, accompanied by gratitude to his fans, signals a return to spiritual roots, distancing himself from the polarized political arena ahead of the 2027 elections.

This move could resonate with an audience seeking non partisan voices amidst ongoing governance challenges, marking a significant evolution in his career and the broader intersection of music and politics in Kenya.
