The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned of continued rainfall expected across several parts of the country from Tuesday, June 10, to Saturday, June 14.
According to the latest weather advisory, counties in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and the Coast will receive moderate to heavy showers throughout the week.
Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka counties should prepare for cloudy mornings breaking into sunny intervals, especially between Wednesday and Friday. However, isolated showers are expected on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons.
Night conditions in these regions will remain partly cloudy, with some locations experiencing light showers on Wednesday night.
Daytime temperatures will range from 6°C to 27°C, urging residents to dress warmly, especially in the early mornings and evenings.
Motorists and pedestrians in Nairobi and other urban centres are advised to exercise caution as flooding and slippery roads may cause disruptions, especially in low-lying areas.
In the Eastern and Southeastern lowlands—Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta—cloudy mornings followed by sunny afternoons are expected.
These areas will see maximum daytime temperatures of 32°C and minimum nighttime temperatures of 12°C. Inland areas of Tana River County will experience similar weather patterns.
The Kenya Met Department continues to urge residents to stay updated on weather advisories and take necessary precautions. The public is advised to remain alert, particularly those living in flood-prone areas, as the rainy spell is likely to persist.
