Kenyans have turned to social media to question the competence of newly appointed Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale.

This comes after Kenyans noticed that Duale has served in three different ministries since the Kenya Kwanza coalition took power.
In October 2022, Duale was appointed Cabinet Secretary for Defense, a position he held until July 12, 2024, when President William Ruto dismissed his entire Cabinet in response to Gen Z protests.
Weeks later, Duale was among the few former Cabinet members reappointed, this time as Cabinet Secretary for Environment.
Seven months later, Duale was reassigned once more, this time from the Environment Ministry to the Health Ministry.
Duale’s reassignment was announced in a State House statement released on Wednesday, March 26, stating that Ruto had approved changes in the Environment docket, leading to a swap of Cabinet Secretaries.
Deborah Barasa, who served as Health Cabinet Secretary, was reassigned to replace Duale in the Environment Ministry.

How did Kenya’s react to Duale’s latest appointment?
Kenyans reacted on social media to Duale’s post on X, where he thanked the president for his appointment. Some questioned whether the CS was versatile enough to lead three entirely different ministries within two years, while others congratulated him.
