Former Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for Damongo, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has made a deeply emotional appeal to delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Batama Constituency, urging them to massively reward the former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia with their votes in the party’s presidential primary slated for January 31, 2026.

Addressing delegates in Batama Constituency in the Ashanti Region—where Dr Bawumia is currently on an intensive campaign tour, Abu Jinapor said the former vice president has sacrificed immensely for the party and the nation, and deserves to be rewarded for his loyalty, resilience, and unwavering commitment to Ghana.

According to him, Dr Bawumia willingly turned his back on a life of global prestige and comfort in international diplomacy to serve his country.

“He could have become an international public servant. Abu Jinapor said. “But out of his deep love for Ghana, he abandoned all the luxury, the privileges, and the perks that come with international diplomacy, and chose Ghana first. The least we can do is to reward him.”

He noted that Dr Bawumia has endured the physical and emotional strain of crisscrossing every corner of the country, engaging ordinary Ghanaians, understanding their daily struggles, and carefully mapping out practical strategies to address them.

“He has gone through the pain and vagaries of travelling across the length and breadth of Ghana just to understand our realities,” he said. “Now that he has developed solutions, all we need to do is to give him the opportunity to implement them for a better future for all Ghanaians.”

Abu Jinapor further described Dr Bawumia as one of the most unfairly vilified figures in Ghanaian politics today, lamenting the personal attacks and insults often directed at him.

“In Ghana today, he is one of the most vilified politicians. People insult him as though he does not have a family, as though he is not human,” he said. “But delegates must rise above the noise, look at his hard work, his sacrifice, and his vision—and vote for him.”

He concluded by urging delegates to allow compassion, gratitude, and foresight to guide their choice at the polls, insisting that rewarding Dr Bawumia would not only honour his sacrifices but also secure a stronger future for the party and the nation.
