An alleged audio conversation that led to the suspension of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Officer for the Oda Constituency in the Eastern Region has emerged online.

In the recording, the NDC officer is reportedly heard advising a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) member who had recently defected to the NDC that her decision to join the party was a mistake.

The audio, which lasts close to six minutes, captures the officer cautioning the woman, referred to as Afia, that she had made a poor choice by switching allegiance to the NDC.

Meanwhile, in a press release dated January 21, 2026, and signed by the Eastern Regional Secretary, Jamal Konneh, the party disclosed that the comments made Benjamin in the recording run contrary to its outreach and expansion efforts, at a time when the Regional Executive Committee (REC) maintains that the NDC has become one of the most attractive political parties in Africa in recent years.

At a virtual meeting held on January 21, 2026, the Eastern Regional Executive Committee deliberated on the matter and resolved to suspend Benjamin with immediate effect.

The committee further referred the case to the Regional Disciplinary Committee for thorough investigation and determination.

NDC suspends Oda constituency communications officer over alleged misconduct

“At its virtual meeting on the 21st of January 2026, the REC deliberated on the matter and decided to suspend you from your position as a Constituency Communications Officer pursuant to Article 48 of the Party’s Constitution and subsequently refer the matter to the Regional Disciplinary Committee for adjudication,” the statement said.

Benjamin has also been directed to surrender all party properties in his possession to the constituency secretary.

The party noted that the suspended officer will be invited to appear before the Regional Disciplinary Committee to respond to the allegations, after which the committee will submit its findings and recommendations to the REC.
