Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, appeared before the Amasaman Circuit Court on January 21, 2026, to appeal her 15-year jail sentence.

During her court appearance, Agradaa covered her face with a white handkerchief, wore a white scarf, a white dress and a black skirt.

On the handkerchief, it was clearly visible that she had written with a pen the inscription, “1 John 5:4–10.”

The verse inscribed on her handkerchief, according to the New International Version (NIV) of the Bible, reads, “For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

“This is the one who came by water and blood Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which He has given about His Son.

“Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his son.”

The case has been adjourned to February 5, 2026.

According to Nana Agradaa’s lawyers, the court directed both the appellant and the state to file their written addresses. However, the Attorney-General’s office requested additional time, explaining that its address was not yet ready.

Agradaa was spotted at the court premises in the custody of Prison officers and her husband, Angel Asiamah was also by her side.

Agradaa is currently serving her term at the Nsawam Female Prison after an Accra Circuit Court handed her a 15-year conviction on July 3, 2025, for charlatanic advertising and defrauding by false pretences.

She was accused of taking various sums of money from church attendees after promoting supposed money-doubling powers.

Prosecutors based their case on her activities on Today’s TV and multiple social media platforms, where she advertised the scheme and encouraged the public to attend an all-night church service, promising to double their money through spiritual intervention.

Agradaa’s appeal against 15-year jail term adjourned to February 5

More than 1,000 people reportedly attended and handed over large sums of cash, but the promise was not fulfilled, leaving many financially distressed.

Agradaa and her lawyers filed an appeal and first appeared before the Amasaman High Court on December 4, 2025. In her appeal documents, she claims the trial was unfair, the evidence did not support the ruling, and the 15-year sentence was excessive.

Nana Agradaa has sent a message to the people of Ghana, especially her church members, family, and fans, drawing strength from the Bible. She quoted 1 John 5:4,10, encouraging believers to remain steadfast in faith despite challenges.
