The Ghana–Anhui Chamber of Commerce and Industry has strengthened Ghana’s grassroots sports development drive with the donation of 2,120 sports items to the National Sports Authority’s Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Committee (RMPC).
The items, presented at a ceremony at ESP Hotel in Labone, Accra, comprise 600 pairs of footwear, including Peace canvas sneakers and casual shoes, and 1,520 Peace T-shirts in adult unisex sizes ranging from XS to 3XL.
The contribution is expected to support the nationwide Constituency Games, a community-driven initiative aimed at expanding access to structured sporting opportunities while creating a pathway for talent identification and development from the constituency level to regional and national competitions.
Chairman of the RMPC, Samson Deen, described the donation as more than material support, saying it represented an investment in young Ghanaians and the broader Reset Ghana Sports Agenda.
“This is not merely a donation. It is an investment in Ghana’s young people and in the government’s Reset Ghana Sports Agenda,” Mr Deen said.
He stressed that no young person should be denied the opportunity to participate in sport because of their location or economic circumstances.
According to Mr Deen, Ghana has enormous sporting potential, but the country needs effective structures, credible partnerships and sustained investment to convert that potential into success at national and international level.
He therefore urged corporate Ghana, diplomatic missions, development institutions and individuals to emulate the Ghana–Anhui Chamber by supporting the Constituency Games.
Chairman of the Ghana–Anhui Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tang Wei, said the donation formed part of the Chamber’s corporate social responsibility and its commitment to Ghana’s development.
“Sport is a powerful force that brings people together, promotes peace and strengthens communities,” he said.
Mr Tang expressed hope that the items would create meaningful opportunities for young people and reaffirmed the Chamber’s readiness to support the national initiative.
The donation comes after the inauguration of the NSA’s RMPC and the launch of its partnership and donations initiative to mobilise private-sector, institutional and international support for the Constituency Games.
