Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited has partnered with Junior Achievement Nigeria to equip more than 600 young Nigerians with digital skills through a 10-day bootcamp aimed at improving employability and entrepreneurship opportunities.
The Digital Bootcamp Programme will take place across Ondo, Abuja, Rivers and Kaduna states, providing participants with practical training in project management, data analysis, cybersecurity, UI/UX design, IT support and digital marketing.
The initiative targets graduates, National Youth Service Corps members, women and young people from low-income communities as the partners seek to bridge digital skills gaps and expand access to opportunities in Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
Speaking on the partnership, the Acting Executive Director, Junior Achievement Nigeria, Olaolu Akogun, said strong partnerships could create lasting impact by preparing young Nigerians for emerging opportunities.
“Strong partnerships create lasting impact. We are proud to partner with Standard Chartered in expanding access to digital skills training for young Nigerians. This investment demonstrates a shared commitment to building a workforce that is ready for the opportunities of the digital age,” Akogun said.
The programme aligns with the Standard Chartered Foundation’s focus on improving youth employability and economic participation by providing underserved young people with skills, knowledge and networks needed to participate in the future workforce.
The partnership will also enable Standard Chartered employees to volunteer through the bank’s Skills-Based Volunteering programme, allowing them to mentor participants and share their professional expertise.
The Head, Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing, Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited, Joke Adu, said the bank viewed investment in future-ready skills as an important way to support communities.
“We believe that empowering young people with future-ready skills is one of the most meaningful investments we can make in our communities. Through this partnership with Junior Achievement Nigeria, we are helping to equip over 600 young Nigerians with practical digital capabilities that are increasingly essential for employment, entrepreneurship, and economic participation,” Adu said.
She added that the bank will contribute the expertise of its employees beyond financial support, saying, “Beyond funding, we are also proud to contribute the expertise of our people through skills-based volunteering, reinforcing our commitment to creating sustainable opportunities and supporting the next generation of leaders, innovators and changemakers.”
The partners said the programme will help strengthen Nigeria’s digital talent pipeline as technology continues to reshape industries and alter workforce requirements.
They said the initiative also reflected Standard Chartered’s commitment to economic inclusion and community programmes that promote education, employability and entrepreneurship.
