We’ll keep polling NDC flagbearer race despite criticism – Mussa Dankwah

The Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, has defended the firm’s decision to conduct opinion polls on potential flagbearer candidates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2028 general elections.

His comments follow criticism from some members of the NDC who have accused him of creating divisions within the party by conducting polls on potential successors to President John Dramani Mahama.

NDC Deputy General Secretary, Mustapha Gbande has particularly raised concerns about the polls on the party’s future flagbearer race, arguing that they could create unnecessary tensions and distract the party from its current political agenda.

However, speaking in an interview with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV’s The Point of View on Wednesday, August 12, Mr Dankwah said polling public opinion was part of Global InfoAnalytics’ mandate and could not be determined by the timelines of political parties.

“If as pollsters we don’t poll, what would you be doing? That’s our job.

“We tend to measure sentiments of the public and also communicate that back to the country to see what people are thinking. The fact that you’re not ready for your primary doesn’t mean that people are not talking about it.

“So for us, we care more about the public view than the political view. We focus on the public sentiment and report accordingly,” he said.

Mr Dankwah said Global InfoAnalytics would therefore continue to measure public sentiment on the NDC’s future leadership despite concerns from within the party.

In a related development, he said the firm’s latest survey, conducted between July 15 and 24, 2026, would serve as the baseline for a tracking exercise to be conducted periodically until the 2028 general elections.

The survey involved 7,700 completed interviews and had a margin of error of plus or minus 1.5 percentage points.

It also found that 53 per cent of respondents believed their standard of living had improved compared with a year earlier, while 19 per cent said it had worsened.
