Rev. Wengam presenting souvenirs to leaders of Ethiopia Assemblies of God

The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, has admonished pastors in Africa to guard against materialism, carnality and complacency, warning that such attitudes devalue Christian worship and give the religion a bad name.

Rev. Wengam, who is also Vice Chairman of the Africa Assemblies of God Alliance, gave the admonition when he addressed the National Pastors Conference of Ethiopia Assemblies of God in Addis Ababa.

The conference featured Rev. Wengam and the Global Chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, Rev. Dominic Yeo, as guest speakers.

Speaking on the topic “Fresh Fire to Complete the Great Commission Assignment and Seeking the Face of God for Greater Revival in Africa,” Rev. Wengam urged African Christian leaders to prioritise deep spirituality and church planting as effective strategies to evangelise the continent.

“Assemblies of God is a product of the Azusa Street revival, characterized by prayer and deep hunger for spirituality. We should, therefore, not deviate from these foundational practices which have sustained the church and propelled its growth all these years,” he said.

The General Superintendent of Ethiopia Assemblies of God, Rev. Ayansa, who also serves as Regional Block Chairman of the East Africa Assemblies of God Alliance, commended Rev. Wengam for his “excellent delivery.”

Rev. Wengam, who was recently re-elected as Ghana’s General Superintendent, later presented Ghanaian souvenirs, including fugu smocks and ladies’ necklaces, to members of the Executive Presbytery of Ethiopia Assemblies of God.
