Ampem Darkoa Ladies moved into the semi-finals of the WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers after overcoming Edo Queens 2-1 in a closely contested match.

The Ghanaian champions produced two decisive moments in attack through Rebecca Assemani and Milot Pokuaa, whose goals gave Ampem Darkoa the advantage and ultimately secured their place in the last four.

Edo Queens responded by reducing the deficit, setting up a tense finish to the contest. However, Ampem Darkoa Ladies protected their lead until the final whistle to complete an important victory over their Nigerian opponents.

The result keeps the Ghanaian side’s hopes of qualifying for the CAF Women’s Champions League alive as their campaign in the WAFU B qualifiers continues.

Ampem Darkoa made the stronger use of their opportunities, with Assemani and Pokuaa finding the net to establish the platform for victory. Edo Queens’ reply ensured the match remained competitive, but the Nigerian side could not find a second equaliser.

For Ampem Darkoa, the 2-1 result represents a significant step forward in their bid to progress through the regional qualifying competition. Reaching the semi-finals means they remain in contention for the opportunity to advance towards the CAF Women’s Champions League.

The Ghanaian champions will now turn their attention to the semi-final stage, having survived a demanding tie against Edo Queens. Their ability to hold on after conceding will also provide confidence as they continue their pursuit of qualification.

Edo Queens leave the competition at this stage after their attempt to recover from the two goals scored by Ampem Darkoa fell short. Although they managed to get on the scoresheet, they were unable to prevent the Ghanaian side from claiming the win.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies’ progress extends what has been an impressive campaign in the WAFU B qualifiers. With their place in the final four confirmed, the club’s focus will now be on maintaining that momentum and taking the next step in the regional competition.

The victory also underlines the importance of the contributions from Assemani and Pokuaa, whose goals proved enough to separate the teams. Edo Queens’ late effort created pressure, but Ampem Darkoa’s defence stood firm to preserve the result.

After a hard-fought encounter, Ampem Darkoa Ladies leave the tie with a 2-1 victory and a semi-final place, while their CAF Women’s Champions League qualification hopes remain firmly on track.
