The Emerging Stars will host neighbours Tanzania in the first leg in Nairobi before travelling to Dar es Salaam for the return leg between September 28 and October 6, 2026, with the aggregate winner advancing to face Ivory Coast in the second round.

A place in the third and final qualifying round will then be at stake, with Kenya set to face the winner of the Tunisia versus Benin tie and Gabon, subject to the progression of the respective teams.
The third round is scheduled for 22nd and 30 March 2027. Kenya will therefore have to successfully navigate three rounds of qualifying to earn a place at the U23 AFCON.
