Ghanaians Demand Change in Football Leadership: The Call for Kurt Okraku’s Exit

The Ghana Football fraternity is witnessing an outpouring of discontent from fans and stakeholders. The widespread sentiment has been clear with a strong demand for change, particularly in the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) under Kurt Okraku. This call has been amplified on social media, where passionate football lovers have expressed their frustration over the current state of the game in the country.

The primary catalyst for this demonstration is the perceived decline of both the national teams and the Ghana Premier League. Supporters feel that under Okraku’s stewardship, the national teams have struggled to perform at both continental and global levels.

Moreover, the Ghana Premier League, once celebrated for its vibrant talent and thrilling matches, is said to be suffering from poor performance and infrastructure issues. Many clubs face ongoing struggles regarding facilities and resources, making it challenging for players to develop and showcase their skills.

With the prevalence of player exodus—where top talents leave for greener pastures abroad—the league’s attractiveness is significantly dwindling. This trend ultimately affects local clubs, diminishing their competitive edge and resulting in a less engaging experience for fans.

The frustrations among football enthusiasts can be seen in their responses across social media platforms. From Twitter to Facebook, fans have rallied together, sharing their thoughts on what they believe is a pressing need for a change in leadership.

The #RESCUEGHANAFOOTBALL campaigns calling for Okraku’s exit have gained momentum, echoing the collective will of the football community. Many feel that his governance has contributed to the league’s decline and have grown increasingly vocal about their desire for a leader who can rejuvenate Ghanaian football.

Here are some remarks from football fans advocating for change.
