Kenya has been drawn in Pool A for the four-day 2026 Davis Cup Africa Group IV tournament, where it will compete against Ghana, Algeria, and Botswana in the battle for promotion.

The competition gets underway today at Nairobi Club and features eight nations divided into two pools of four teams each.

Kenya will launch its campaign against Algeria on the opening day, aiming to secure an early victory and build momentum in the tournament.
The Kenyan team is coached by Rosemary Owino, with Allan Cooper serving as team captain.

The squad blends experience and youthful talent, consisting of Ismael Changawa, Kael Shah, Zayyan Virani and Liberty Baraka, who will be looking to guide the country to a successful campaign.

Pool A consists of Kenya, Ghana, Algeria, and Botswana, while Pool B will feature Zimbabwe, Mozambique, DR Congo, and Angola.

Teams will compete over the four-day event, with every match carrying significant importance as they chase promotion or fight to avoid relegation.

The stakes are high, with the top two teams at the conclusion of the tournament earning promotion to Davis Cup Africa Group III.

Meanwhile, the bottom two teams in the overall standings will be relegated to Davis Cup Africa Group V, adding extra pressure to every fixture. Those who will occupy third to sixth positions will retain their place in Davis Cup Group IV.

The opening day schedule on June 17 will see Ghana take on Botswana before Kenya faces Algeria in the second Pool A encounter.
In Pool B, Zimbabwe will play Mozambique, while DR Congo will meet Angola.

With promotion on the line and a talented squad at its disposal, Team Kenya will be hoping to make a strong statement from the outset and position itself among the tournament’s leading contenders as it seeks a return to the higher tier of African Davis Cup competition.
