Ghana FA spokesman Henry Asante provides update on reported Honduras vs. Black Stars friendly

Black Stars Communications Director Henry Asante Twum has dismissed reports suggesting Ghana have finalized a behind-closed-doors friendly against Honduras ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking to Ghanasportspage.com, Asante Twum revealed that he has not received any official confirmation regarding the proposed fixture.

“I don’t have any confirmation on the game yet,” he said when asked about reports linking Ghana with a warm-up match against Honduras.

The communications chief also indicated that no additional friendly matches have been arranged before Ghana’s opening World Cup game against Panama.

“We have not made any arrangements,” he added. The comments come amid speculation over the Black Stars’ final preparations for the tournament.

Ghana recently concluded their pre-World Cup warm-up schedule with a 1-1 draw against Wales in Cardiff, a match Head Coach Carlos Queiroz described as encouraging after just one full training session with his complete squad.

The Wale’s friendly will seemingly be Ghana’s only warm-up game ahead of their opening Group L clash against Panama on June 17, 2026.
