From technology investments to grassroots sports support, ForteBet is positioning itself as more than just another betting operator in Nigeria’s crowded gaming market. The company’s Media Manager, Feranmi Samuel, says the brand’s strategy revolves around transparency, seamless customer experience, and sustainable growth across its Nigerian operations, in this interview with Peter Akinbo

ForteBet has grown into a recognisable name in the sports betting and gaming industry across several African markets. Can you tell us about the company’s journey and the vision behind its expansion into Nigeria?

ForteBet’s journey has been defined by a deliberate focus on building trust, consistency, and accessibility in every market we operate. From the outset, the goal was not just to offer betting services but to create a platform that customers can rely on over time. Our expansion into Nigeria was both strategic and inevitable. The country has one of the most vibrant sports cultures in Africa, supported by a young, energetic population and a rapidly growing digital landscape. For us, the vision is long-term—to become a trusted household name by delivering services that are tailored to the Nigerian market while maintaining the operational standards we are known for across other regions.

The betting industry has become increasingly technology-driven. What investments has ForteBet made in technology to ensure a secure, fast, and user-friendly customer experience?

Technology is at the heart of everything we do. We’ve invested significantly in building platforms that are not only robust but also intuitive. From a performance standpoint, our systems are designed to handle high volumes efficiently, ensuring speed and stability even during peak periods. On the security side, we use encrypted payment systems and advanced safeguards to protect user data and transactions. Equally important is the user experience. We’ve structured our interface to be simple and accessible, whether a customer is using a mobile device or visiting one of our retail outlets. The idea is to remove complexity and make the experience seamless for both new and experienced users.

Trust is crucial in the betting industry. What systems has ForteBet put in place to guarantee transparency, secure transactions, and prompt payout of winnings?

Trust is fundamental to our business, and we approach it with a high level of responsibility.

We’ve implemented secure payment gateways that ensure all transactions are protected. Our payout systems are automated to guarantee speed and accuracy, which is something customers value greatly. In addition, we place strong emphasis on transparency. Our terms and conditions are clear, and our operational processes are structured in a way that customers understand what to expect at every stage. Ultimately, we want users to engage with confidence, knowing that the system is fair and reliable.

Nigeria’s business environment has faced various economic and regulatory challenges. How have these factors affected ForteBet’s operations, and what strategies has the company adopted to sustain growth under these conditions?

Operating in Nigeria requires a high level of adaptability. The regulatory environment, economic fluctuations, and infrastructural realities all play a role in shaping how businesses function. For us, the approach has been to remain compliant at all times while investing in systems that can withstand these challenges. We’ve also built strong local partnerships that support our operations and provide valuable market insight. At the same time, we continuously monitor trends and customer behaviour. This allows us to stay agile and make informed decisions that keep the business moving forward despite external pressures.

How does ForteBet contribute to local economies in terms of employment, partnerships with agents or shop owners, and support for local businesses?

Our contribution to the local economy is both direct and indirect. We create employment through our retail outlets and operational teams, but we also work closely with agents and shop owners, providing them with opportunities to run and grow their own businesses within our network.

These partnerships are important because they extend economic benefits beyond the company itself. They help stimulate local commerce and create a wider ecosystem of opportunity around our operations.

Many betting companies support sports development and community initiatives. Does ForteBet engage in sponsorships, grassroots sports development, or other social initiatives?

Yes, community engagement is an important part of our identity. We are involved in initiatives that support grassroots sports and encourage participation at the local level. This includes backing competitions and engaging in programs that help develop talent and promote inclusion.

Our view is that the industry should contribute positively to the communities it operates in, and we are committed to playing our part in that regard.

With many betting platforms operating in Nigeria, what differentiates ForteBet from other operators in terms of service delivery, innovation, and customer engagement?

The Nigerian market is highly competitive, so differentiation comes down to consistency and execution. One of our strengths is our hybrid model, which combines a strong retail presence with a functional digital platform. This ensures that we are accessible to a wide range of customers. We also focus heavily on transparency, particularly in how our systems are structured — from odds to cashout processes. Beyond that, we prioritise customer support and simplicity, ensuring that the overall experience is straightforward and dependable. It’s not just about offering features; it’s about delivering them in a way that customers can trust and appreciate over time.

Looking ahead, what should customers and stakeholders expect from ForteBet in terms of expansion, new products, or technological advancements?

Looking forward, our focus is on growth and continuous improvement. We plan to expand our presence further within Nigeria while enhancing our digital platforms to deliver a more seamless experience. There will also be new features and products introduced as we respond to changing customer preferences. At the same time, we are investing in technology that allows for greater personalisation, ensuring that customers have a more tailored and engaging experience.

What message would you like to share with ForteBet customers and sports fans across Nigeria?

We appreciate the trust our customers have placed in us. Our commitment is to continue providing a platform that is transparent, reliable, and enjoyable. As the industry evolves, we will keep improving our services while maintaining a strong focus on responsible gaming. For us, it’s about building something sustainable — where customers can continue to enjoy the excitement of sports in a safe and well-structured environment.
