I’ve Lost Hope In Nigeria

Entertainment

Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has opened up about his views on Nigeria’s political system, revealing that he has never taken part in any election in the country.

Naija News reports that the music star made the revelation during a recent appearance on the Off The Record podcast, where he spoke about his disappointment with the state of the nation and why he no longer believes things will improve easily.

According to the rapper, years of waiting for positive change without seeing results made him lose hope in the country’s direction.

He explained that many expectations he once had for Nigeria never became reality, leading him to mentally detach himself from the system.

Blaqbonez also shared his belief that the country’s leadership problems are connected to the behaviour and mindset of the people.

He said he does not see much difference between political parties and feels the same problems continue no matter who is in power.

He said: “I haven’t voted before. I kind of feel like I clocked out of Nigeria. Too many things that I hoped would have happened haven’t happened, and I’m just like, this country is just bound to be like this. I feel like our leaders are a representation of us. I don’t see any difference regardless of the party.

“There are so many branches of a tree if the root is rotten. So I feel like I don’t know if I believe in the vision of Nigeria. I feel like something drastic has to happen first for me to believe.

“The change that we would need to see, especially in African countries, would need to come from this generation. But why can we never get a young candidate?”
