Black Starlets Hold Recovery Session After Algeria Stalemate

The Black Starlets returned to training on Friday with a recovery session following their hard-fought draw against Algeria in their opening Group D game at the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat.

The recovery session, supervised by Head Coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum and his technical staff, focused on regeneration, light tactical work, and fitness management as the team began preparations for their next group fixture.

Players who featured prominently in the Algeria encounter underwent light jogging, stretching exercises, and recovery drills, while the rest of the squad participated in short possession-based exercises and movement routines.

The atmosphere at training remained positive, with the players showing determination and focus despite sharing the spoils in the opening game. The technical team also used the session to address a few tactical areas as the Black Starlets continue their quest for qualification to the knockout stage.

Ghana produced an encouraging display against Algeria, creating several chances and showing moments of quality throughout the contest. The team’s defensive organization and attacking movement drew praise from the technical handlers, although the Black Starlets were unable to secure the winning goal.

Dr. Ogum is expected to intensify preparations in the coming days as Ghana looks ahead to its next crucial group game in the tournament.

The Black Starlets remain fully focused on making a strong impression at the competition and securing qualification to the FIFA U17 World Cup later this year.
