The All Progressives Congress Initiative for Good Governance has praised President Bola Tinubu for making efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability and efficiency in governance, particularly in the administration of military pensions.

According to a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, the group’s National President, Musa Tsoken, commended the President’s approval of the appointment of retired Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Adamu as Chairman of the Military Pensions Board, effective December 4, 2025.

Tsoken said the appointment reflected the administration’s deliberate effort to leverage experienced professionals in advancing the welfare of retired military personnel and their families.

“This appointment reflects the administration’s deliberate effort to leverage experienced professionals in advancing the welfare of the nation’s gallant retired military personnel and their families,” he said.

The group also called for the full implementation of the presidential directive to enable Adamu to assume office, noting that his experience in military finance, budgeting and institutional management would be beneficial to the pension system.

“Enabling AVM Adamu to assume office without further delay will allow him to bring his proven expertise to bear on the critical task of reforming pension administration,” Tsoken added.

He stressed the importance of prompt execution of government decisions, saying, “All arms and agencies of government are constitutionally bound to give effect to presidential appointments and directives in good faith and with utmost dispatch.”

The APC-IGG further urged the Presidency, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and relevant institutions to ensure a smooth transition process.

The statement read, “Seamless transitions and clear adherence to due process are essential for administrative continuity and the effective delivery of government programmes.”

The group reiterated its support for the Tinubu administration, expressing optimism that timely action on the appointment would strengthen governance processes and enhance service delivery to retired service personnel.

“We believe that swift resolution of this matter will send a strong and positive signal that Nigeria’s democratic institutions are maturing,” Tsoken said.
