Thapelo Maseko’s Injury Explains Bafana Bafana Absence

Thapelo Maseko’s absence from the latest Bafana Bafana squad has been explained, following the announcement of the players selected for the upcoming international fixtures against Kenya.

The FC Copenhagen winger was among the notable names missing from the squad, prompting questions from supporters about why he was not included despite his experience at club and international level.

Maseko has been working to establish himself in European football after moving to Denmark, where he joined FC Copenhagen. His progress has attracted attention from South African football followers, who have continued to monitor his performances and availability for the national team.

His omission is particularly significant as Bafana Bafana prepare to face Kenya in their upcoming international assignment. The fixture provides an opportunity for the national team to assess its options and maintain momentum ahead of future competitions.

However, the reason behind Maseko’s absence has now been revealed, offering clarity on why the winger will not be part of the group selected for the encounter.

His situation also comes after an injury setback that affected his involvement at club level. Maseko previously suffered a hamstring injury, with FC Copenhagen manager Bo Svensson confirming that the problem would keep him out for some time.

The injury was sustained during a match against AGF, and the club indicated that his recovery would extend beyond the immediate period.

As a result, his availability for national team duty has been affected, explaining why he is not part of the latest Bafana Bafana selection.

For Maseko, attention will now remain on his recovery and return to competitive action. The winger will hope to regain full fitness and put himself in contention for future national team opportunities.
