BREAKING: NNPCL, MRS Set to Cut Petrol Prices After Dangote Refinery’s Latest Reduction
According to a report by DAILY POST on Monday 2 November 2026; Nigerian motorists could soon enjoy some relief as NNPCL and MRS filling stations prepare to reduce petrol prices following Dangote Refinery’s latest downward adjustment of its gantry price.
The anticipated reduction comes after Dangote Refinery lowered its petrol gantry price to N1,215 per litre, a move expected to influence pump prices across the country’s downstream petroleum market.
The latest development is expected to put pressure on filling station operators to review their selling prices, particularly as consumers continue to grapple with the high cost of petrol.
DAILY POST reports that managers of NNPCL and MRS filling stations have confirmed plans to reduce their pump prices following the refinery’s latest announcement.
An NNPCL station manager in Abuja, who requested anonymity, disclosed that the adjustment would take effect within the week.
“Our fuel price is expected to drop from this week following Dangote Refinery’s petrol price cut,” the manager said.
A manager at an MRS filling station also confirmed that a reduction was expected in the coming days.
The President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Abubakar Maigandi, equally indicated that independent marketers would lower their prices once they began receiving petrol at the new rate.
According to Maigandi, IPMAN members are prepared to adjust their pump prices following the commencement of fresh supplies from Dangote Refinery.
“Our members would cut fuel prices as soon as we receive Dangote Refinery’s petrol from this week,” he stated.
Currently, motorists in Abuja and surrounding areas reportedly purchase petrol at prices ranging from N1,370 to N1,429 per litre.
The latest development could therefore trigger fresh competition among fuel retailers as operators respond to the reduction in their supply costs.
It also comes amid declining international crude oil prices, with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) falling by three per cent to $99 per barrel, while Brent crude dropped by four per cent to $104 per barrel.
Although the expected pump price reduction has raised hopes among consumers, the actual prices will depend on when filling stations receive the cheaper petrol and implement the adjustment.
