Okorocha: When Uzodimma Built Road To His Family Compound, He Didn’t Attend Commissioning—Onuegbu

The political rift between the Imo State government and former Governor Rochas Okorocha has deepened after Barrister Enyinma Onuegbu, Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations) to Governor Hope Uzodimma, challenged the former governor to provide evidence of his participation in the state’s recent political activities.

Speaking on TVC News’ Politics programme on Sunday, November 1, 2026, Onuegbu accused Okorocha of being absent from grassroots party activities and claimed that he had been operating from Abuja rather than actively participating in the state’s political affairs.

Addressing Okorocha’s claims regarding the May 18 primary elections, Onuegbu insisted that the former governor was not involved in the process and challenged him to produce photographs or videos showing his participation in any pre-primary event.

He said he was speaking as a stakeholder who had lived in Imo State for 33 years and was familiar with political developments in the area.

Onuegbu further alleged that Okorocha returned to Abuja after the primaries and had not participated in efforts to strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the grassroots level in Imo State.

According to him, the former governor had consistently remained in Abuja since Uzodimma assumed office and had stayed away from the party’s activities within the state.

He also cited the commissioning of a road leading to Okorocha’s family compound as an example of the former governor’s alleged absence from state events.

Onuegbu claimed that Okorocha declined to attend the road’s commissioning despite the government completing the project. He contrasted this with the former governor’s eight-year tenure, alleging that the road had not been constructed during his administration.

The remarks have added another dimension to the ongoing political disagreement between the Uzodimma-led government and Okorocha, whose claims about participation in the state’s political processes have now been publicly challenged by a senior government official.
