Caleb Amisi Teams Up With Maraga Ahead of 2027 Elections, Reveals Their Plan
People’s Renaissance Movement Party leader Caleb Amisi has teamed up with former Chief Justice David Maraga to mobilise young leaders advocating for fairness, justice and an electoral system free from tribal divisions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Amisi announced the meeting on Monday, October 26, 2026, saying he had joined Maraga and like-minded young leaders who believe Kenya needs political reforms that promote free, fair and just elections without ethnic influence.
The Saboti legislator criticised the country’s political culture, arguing that many politicians depend heavily on ethnic loyalties to win support and remain relevant. He said leaders who avoid exploiting tribal sentiments often face difficulties navigating Kenya’s political landscape.
“It is rare to get people who survive in politics without preaching tribalism morning to evening,” Amisi said, highlighting his concerns about the continued influence of ethnicity in political campaigns and leadership competition across the country.
Amisi explained that the meeting brought together young leaders committed to changing Kenya’s political direction by promoting an electoral system grounded in fairness, justice and freedom from ethnic mobilisation.
He said the participants shared a common belief that Kenya must move away from tribal politics and embrace a system where citizens choose their leaders based on policies, integrity and national interests rather than community affiliations.
The meeting comes as political leaders and aspiring candidates begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election, with debates surrounding electoral reforms, governance and ethnic voting patterns expected to feature prominently in the political contest.
Maraga, who previously served as Kenya’s Chief Justice, is pursuing a presidential bid under the United Green Movement party. His campaign is expected to place considerable emphasis on constitutionalism, electoral integrity, accountability and the rule of law.
However, Amisi did not disclose the identities of all the young leaders who attended the meeting or announce any formal agreement between his party and Maraga’s political outfit. Details of the discussions and specific resolutions also remained undisclosed.
