Geoffrey Mosiria Meets Ndindi Nyoro and Fred Matiang’i Days After Nairobi County Dismissal

Former Nairobi County Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria has attracted political attention after being photographed meeting Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.

The photographs, shared by Lightcast TV Kenya, show the three leaders exchanging handshakes, engaging in conversations and posing together in what appears to be a formal setting. The meeting has sparked interest amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Mosiria’s engagement with the two leaders comes days after Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja removed him from his position as Chief Officer for Public Participation, Citizen Engagement and Customer Service.

The changes were announced in a county circular dated October 21, 2026, and took effect immediately.

Following the announcement, Mosiria sarcastically thanked Sakaja for formalising his removal, claiming he had effectively been sidelined since December 2023. He said his accounting officer responsibilities and control over budgets had been withdrawn earlier.

The development followed Mosiria’s declaration that he intended to challenge Sakaja for the Nairobi governorship in the 2027 elections. He has presented himself as a candidate focused on solving city problems, citing his experience in health, environment and customer service.

Mosiria has also mentioned Bishop Margaret Wanjiru as a possible running mate during a church event attended by Matiang’i.

His latest meeting with Nyoro and Matiang’i has fuelled speculation about possible political consultations, although the photographs alone do not establish whether the leaders discussed an alliance or campaign plans.

Both Nyoro and Matiang’i have featured in opposition political discussions ahead of the next general election.

Mosiria has maintained that he intends to continue highlighting issues affecting Nairobi residents while pursuing his gubernatorial ambitions. His departure from the county administration could now shape his next political steps as competition for City Hall begins to intensify.
