“My Transfer Cost KSh20 Million”: Mosiria Links Habanos Club Closure to His Reassignment
Nairobi County official Geoffrey Mosiria has claimed that his transfer from the Environment docket to Customer Service followed his decision to close Habanos Club, alleging that cartels joined forces to fight him.
Mosiria said the move came at a time when he was taking action against establishments that allegedly violated county regulations, suggesting that his efforts to enforce the law made him a target of powerful interests.
According to Mosiria, the decision to close Habanos Club marked a turning point in his time serving in the Environment department. He claimed that individuals he described as cartels grouped together against him following the action.
“The moment I closed Habanos Club is when I was transferred from Environment to Customer Service,” Mosiria said.
He further alleged that his transfer was exchanged for KSh20 million, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding the administrative decision.
However, the allegation that money changed hands has not been independently verified, and the claim should be treated as Mosiria’s account unless further evidence emerges.
Mosiria has previously attracted public attention over his involvement in county enforcement activities, particularly matters concerning buildings, businesses and compliance with regulations in Nairobi.
His latest remarks are likely to renew debate about the challenges faced by county officers tasked with enforcing regulations against businesses and other establishments.
The claims also raise questions about whether county enforcement officers can carry out their duties without interference from individuals or interests affected by their decisions.
If substantiated, allegations of a transfer being exchanged for money would raise serious concerns about transparency and accountability within county administration.
It remains unclear whether Nairobi County officials have responded to Mosiria’s latest allegations or whether any formal investigation has been initiated into the alleged KSh20 million payment.
For now, the claims remain allegations made by Mosiria, and further information would be needed to establish the circumstances surrounding his transfer and the alleged payment.
