Standard Investment Trust Fund Dethrones Sanlam As Kenya’s Biggest Money Market Fund Manager

The Capital Markets Authority has released a new ranking of Kenya’s leading money market and unit trust schemes. It shows which funds manage the largest sums of money in the country.

Standard Investment Trust Fund emerged as the biggest scheme with Ksh188.62 billion as of June 30 2026. That gives it a 19.88 per cent market share.

Sanlam Unit Trust Scheme came second with Ksh171.38 billion and an 18.06 per cent share. CIC Unit Trust Scheme took third place with Ksh105.24 billion.

Britam Unit Trust Scheme ranked fourth with Ksh71.35 billion while NCBA Unit Trust Scheme followed with Ksh50.54 billion. Old Mutual Jubilee Absa Coop and KCB completed the top ten.

Standard Investment grew its assets by 23 per cent from Ksh153.15 billion in March. That jump allowed it to overtake Sanlam which had previously led the market.

Sanlam recorded a six per cent rise in assets while CIC grew by two per cent and Britam by 15 per cent. NCBA however saw a seven per cent decline as its assets fell from Ksh54.29 billion to Ksh50.54 billion.

The total value of assets managed by collective investment schemes rose to Ksh948.7 billion by the end of June. This was up from Ksh851.7 billion in March which is an 11 per cent increase in three months.

The authority linked the growth to gains by existing funds and the registration of additional funds under existing umbrella schemes. It also pointed to stronger marketing efforts by fund managers.

Etica ranked 11th with Ksh24.87 billion while ICEA followed in 12th place. Madison Ziidi Faida and Nabo Africa funds also featured in the ranking.
