“Nikifikiria Ni Pomb” Video Emerges Showing Moments an 18-Story Building Collapsed in Nairobi

A horrifying video has emerged capturing the exact terrifying moment an 18-storey building under construction has collapsed in the busy Eastleigh neighbourhood of Nairobi, sending widespread panic through the surrounding streets.

Shocked bystanders have recorded the disaster as a massive plume of dust has enveloped First Avenue, 9th Street, instantly turning a typical bustling afternoon into complete chaos.

According to reports from media outlets including Citizen TV Kenya and The Eastleigh Voice, emergency response teams have arrived at the scene to carry out search and rescue operations.

Huge crowds of frantic onlookers have gathered around the mountain of rubble, where several people are feared trapped beneath the debris.

Eyewitnesses have described hearing a loud, thunderous explosion-like sound before the high-rise structure has crumbled to the ground.

In the widely circulating video, one frightened resident has uttered the words “nikifikiria ni bomb” (“I thought it was a bomb”), perfectly expressing the sheer shock felt by everyone in the area.

To maintain control and secure the hazardous area, police officers have lobbed tear gas canisters to disperse the surging crowds so that emergency responders can safely navigate the collapse site.

Rescue workers have continued searching through the concrete wreckage in a desperate race against time.

This tragic event has once again raised urgent concerns about structural integrity and safety standards in rapid urban construction projects across Nairobi.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the total number of casualties, but search efforts have remained active as officers work tirelessly to rescue anyone buried beneath the destroyed building.
