Kenyan Content Creator Reveals Total Amount of Money US Truck Drivers Earn Weekly

A Kenyan content creator based in the United States has sparked interest among job seekers after highlighting the potential earnings of truck drivers during a visit to a trucking facility in Kansas City.

Fanya Mambo Kinuthia visited a trailer park owned by Kenyan businessman Ernest Modara, who operates a trucking business with several long-haul trucks.

During their conversation, Modara reportedly explained that truck drivers in the United States could earn approximately $2,500 per week, equivalent to about KSh 280,000.

Based on the stated figures, the amount could translate to roughly KSh 1.1 million over four weeks, although actual earnings depend on working arrangements and prevailing exchange rates.

Kinuthia observed that several trucks at the facility were parked because the business reportedly lacked enough drivers to operate them.

The situation prompted the content creator to highlight the potential opportunities available to qualified Kenyan drivers interested in working abroad.

Kinuthia appealed to the Kenyan government to explore ways of helping skilled truck drivers secure legitimate employment opportunities in the United States.

He suggested that discussions between the Kenyan and American governments could help establish arrangements for qualified workers to access appropriate visas and work permits.

According to Kinuthia, such cooperation could benefit Kenyan drivers seeking employment while helping American trucking businesses address staffing shortages.

He acknowledged the importance of creating employment opportunities locally but maintained that Kenyans should also be able to pursue genuine jobs in other countries.

However, the reported salary should not be interpreted as a guaranteed income for every driver. Earnings may vary depending on the employer, routes, distance covered, working hours and other contractual terms.

Kenyans interested in such opportunities must also obtain the required immigration status and work authorisation before taking up employment in the United States.

The discussion has renewed interest in overseas employment among skilled Kenyan workers, particularly those in the transport sector.

Whether the proposal leads to formal recruitment arrangements will depend on government engagement and the availability of legitimate employment pathways.
