The Diaspora arm of the National Youth Council of Nigeria has enacted its 2026 Constitution.

According to a statement issued on Friday, the diaspora council President, Collins Idahosa, described the move as a landmark step toward strengthening its role as the statutory mouthpiece and coordinating body for Nigerian youth organisations worldwide.

He also said the newly adopted constitutional framework establishes four specialised organs to enhance transparency, accountability and global reach.

He said that these include the Diaspora Youth Congress as the primary decision-making body; the Diaspora Board of Trustees, which will serve as the internal conscience and legal supervisor; the Diaspora Advisory Council to provide expert mentorship and policy oversight; and the Diaspora Executive Council.

Idahosa said the council’s mission remains clear and focused, which is empower Nigerian Youth in the Diaspora toward global impact, and national pride.

“Our focus remains squarely on our mission and vision, which is to empower Nigerian Youth in the Diaspora toward global impact, national pride, and individual excellence,” he said.

Idahosa also announced that August 22, 2026, has been designated as “Nigeria Diaspora Youth Day” and will be marked in London, United Kingdom.

He said, “The event will coincide with the NYCN’s 62nd Anniversary Symposium and is expected to bring together young professionals and key stakeholders to deliberate on youth empowerment and cultural identity.
Under the motto, “Build the Youth, Build the Nation.”

Idahosa all stated that the NYCN Diaspora would continue to advocate for the rights, inclusion and integration of Nigerians living abroad and urged them to participate in the council’s discussions and activities.
