Kenya Moore pushed back this week against reports that her salon owes tens of thousands in back rent. Court filings show a landlord sought nearly $88,000 related to unpaid rent and utilities.

A judge in Georgia earlier ordered a payment schedule, the filings say. The landlord, identified in court papers as Northland Chamblee LLC, pressed for possession after a missed deadline.

Kenya Moore Makes Public Statement

In a public post, the star called the rent reports false.

She wrote: “The reports about me being behind on rent are false. As I have stated before, my company is in an active lawsuit against my salon landlord for failing to pay nearly $80,000 in tenant improvement allowance OWED TO ME.”

Her post continued with specifics.

She said she spent more than $300,000 to build the salon. Moore added the landlord promised a tenant-improvement allowance. She said the landlord failed to reimburse those agreed expenses.

The landlord’s October lawsuit alleged rent stopped in December 2024.
Court records say the debt includes rent, fees and utilities.

A judge reportedly set two equal payment dates and required monthly rent to keep the space.

After the first payment deadline, the landlord said possession should be granted.

The star says she filed a countersuit and withheld rent to reach a settlement. She also teased a livestream to explain further to followers.

Local business observers say disputes over tenant improvements often lead to counterclaims.
Lease language and reimbursement deadlines can become central facts in court.

Representatives for the landlord did not immediately respond to requests for comment. A call or statement can clarify whether the landlord seeks eviction or another remedy.

The salon opened to publicity in 2024. Since then, its operations and financial status have drawn media attention.

The matter remains tied up in civil court. If the parties cannot settle, the judge will decide next steps.
