Nigerian musician Simi enter controversy sake of her Tweets

Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency on Thursday, tok say dem don refer one mata wey involve Nigerian musician Simisola wey pipo sabi as Simi to di Lagos State Commissioner for Police and taskforce for preliminary investigations.

Executive Secretary of Lagos State (DSVA), Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi tok inside one interview wit Channels TV on Thursday morning. She explain say dem don commence investigation on di allegations based on Tweets wey Simi bin make between 2012 and 2014.

She explain further say, dem go need victims make dem come forward with dia statement, and evidence so dem go fit prosecute.

“We don dey observe becos we don see some Tweets from 2012 and 2014. We don refer di case to di commissioner of police make dem conduct preliminary investigation,” she tok.

“Reports be say e hapun for one creche wey her mama bin dey manage and dem don breech issues of safeguarding and child protection concerns.

We get taskforce for Lagos wey dey responsible for implementing di safeguarding and child protection order and we don brief di taskforce on dis and dem don dey conduct preliminary investigations.

As for di Simi case, we no fit act like say we no see am. We get di duty to at least start preliminary investigations,” she tok.

“Survivors dey? Becos di truth be say e go dey difficult to prosecute di lady (Simi) without victims.”

Vivour-Adeniyi explain say if dem go need carry di mata go court di DDP go need advise dem base on wetin di victims don tok, bifor di mata go proceed go court.

In di last one week, Simi don dey face criticism ontop social media about posts wey she bin make on X, between 2012 and 2014.

Dis na after di mother of three bin chook mouth for di trending issues about sexual assault for Nigeria, after one TikToker allege say pesin rape her for her apartment.

Di TikToker allegations later come out to be false.

Meanwhile, dem begin drag Simi about one post she make on 14 March, 2012, wia she tok say “one four-year-old pikin dey crush on her.”

Simi say pipo dey misquote and misinterpret her Tweets.

She tok say she bin dey 23-year-old wen she do dis posts, and she dey help for her mama daycare centre.

“I no dey Twitter today – but somebody show me some of my old tweets to my attention and I no fit to not address am,” she tok.

“14 years ago, I be 23, so I definitely no be small pikin at all. I no dey here to make excuse becos I no get anything to make excuse for.

“Wetin I no go allow anyone do na to twist my story to fit false narratives.

“For 2012, I live and help my mama for daycare while I dey hustle my music. I dey Tweet everything wey hapun for my life, as we all dey do dat time. Small pikin fit dey mischievous. If small pikin do something wey I find funny, I go Tweet about am. Small pikin dey cute and lovable. I dey like to hug, kiss, and pamper dem. I dey Tweet about am. Nothing wey I Tweet wey come from dirty mind, ” she tok.

Who be Simisola?

Nigerian musician Simisola wey pipo sabi as “Simi” na 37-year-old mama to three children.

Simi start her career young, she drop her album for 2006 “Ogaju”. Na Samklef produce am bifor she come enta afro-pop and R&B for 2014.

In 2014, she she drop her first solo “Restless” and e earn her record deal wit X3M Music. Wia she later release “Tiff” and “E No Go Funny”, wey bin blow.

Afta dis success, many nominations bin enta dat year, and dem even nominate her for Best Alternative Song for “The Headies” in 2015.

Over di years, Simi don collect many awards, including: Most Promising Act to Watch: Nigeria Entertainment Awards (2015) Best Vocal Performance (Female): The Headies (2016) Songwriter of the Year: AFRIMA Awards (2017)

Simi na female Afrobeats artiste and many pipo also sabi her as “studio brat” becos of how she don master di act of mixing rhymes to make music.

Simi also marry another talented Nigerian musician, Adekunle Gold, and dem get three children togeda.

She bin drop her song “Duduke” for her first pregnancy wit her daughter Adejare.

She don do songs wit many artistes including her husband, Falz, Ladipoe, Johnny Drille, Tiwa Savage among odas.
