Family seeks justice as suspected robbers kill motorcyclist in Abeokuta

Suspected armed robbers have killed a 28-year-old motorcycle rider, Usman Ibrahim, at Olomore in Abeokuta North Local Council of Ogun State.

The incident occurred in the early hours of yesterday.

Sources said the deceased was attacked by assailants who allegedly posed as passengers before killing him and making off with his motorcycle. His body was later found near the Ogun River with a machete wound to the head.

Speaking with The Guardian, his brother, Sulaimon Musa, said the attackers killed Ibrahim to steal his motorcycle.

Musa said the father of three usually operated from morning until late at night. He added that the assailants may have targeted him because his motorcycle was clean and in good condition.

He described the death as shocking, noting that the family is now faced with the challenge of caring for the three children and the wife he left behind.

Another brother of the deceased, Ladan Abubakar, called on the state government to assist the family and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

Efforts to reach the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, proved unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls.
