Ghana’s U15 girls’ team, affectionately known as the Black Damsels, are gearing up to defend their title at the upcoming CAF African Schools Football Championship finals.
The highly anticipated tournament, organised by the Confederation of African Football, will take place in Maputo, Mozambique, from April 2 to April 10, 2026.
Since its inception, the CAF African Schools Football Championship has rapidly evolved into one of the continent’s premier youth football platforms. Designed to unearth emerging talent and strengthen grassroots development, the competition continues to play a vital role in shaping the future of African football.
Ghana’s Black Damsels enter the tournament brimming with confidence and pride, carrying the weight — and honor — of their defending champion status. Their triumph in the previous edition marked a historic milestone, highlighting Ghana’s rising prominence in women’s youth football and reinforcing the nation’s commitment to nurturing young talent.
The team, assembled through the collaborative efforts of the Ghana Football Association and the Ghana Education Service (GES), has undergone meticulous preparation ahead of the continental showdown.
However, the road to retaining their crown will not be easy, with formidable opponents from across Africa eager to dethrone the champions.
With determination, discipline and national pride fueling their campaign, Ghana’s young queens of the pitch will aim to prove once again that they are the standard-bearers of schools’ football on the continent.
