South Africa’s iGaming sector is entering an exciting growth phase powered by international partnerships, evolving product portfolios and a rise in digital engagement.

Operators and suppliers are racing with intent to strengthen their foothold in the market which is projected to hit roughly £3.3 billion by 2030.

Punters are increasingly reading BettingTop10 reviews to find the best betting apps in South Africa, which is contributing significantly to the iGaming boom.

Read on as we analyse some of the latest developments in South Africa’s iGaming sector to understand how innovation and content expansion have become key tenets of the ecosystem.

Live Numbers Betting Expands Player Engagement

Sports Information Services (SIS)recently solidified its partnership with Hollywoodbets by launching two new 49s live draw products called Brunchtime and Drivetime.

The draws are broadcast from the United Kingdom to coincide with peak betting hours in South Africa (usually between 12.49 pm and 5.49 pm local time). They are designed to give players more chances to bet when major sporting events are not on.

Traditional sports betting happens in cycles, but live number draws run consistently and deliver immediate results. They are attractive to players looking for simple betting options.

Players have enjoyed previous products released by SIS. For instance, Fast 15s is designed to provide quick draws, meaning players can place several bets in a short period.

Another product, 39s, runs draws every three minutes and is a go-to choice for punters when sports betting is not available, helping operators keep them engaged during quiet periods.

According to Joe Andrews, Head of Sales (Africa) at SIS, the goal of the expansion is to make the product more popular across the region and reiterate the company as the leading force in live betting.

SIS has taken a keen interest in the African market, as mobile betting is growing exponentially there, and players are showing interest in easy betting formats.

The launch comes off the back of a similar deal between SIS and Betway South Africa. The fact that multiple operators are offering live numbers betting indicates keen interest.

Expanding its numbers games portfolio allows Hollywoodbets to deliver a variety of options to customers while remaining a powerful force in South Africa’s competitive betting market.

Hollywoodbets have also expanding their online casino offering via a partnership with NOVOMATIC’s digital gaming division, Greentube.

This deal allows Hollywoodbets to offer a wider range of renowned slot games, including Lucky Lady’s Charm Deluxe, Book of Ra Deluxe and Sizzling Hot Deluxe.

The games will be delivered through Greentube’s Mynt Platform, a new system that allows players to add new titles quickly and ensures they work on all devices.

The technology is crucial in South Africa as citizens use smartphones, tablets and PCs, meaning games must be optimised to work on smaller screens.

Partnering with Hollywoodbets will help Greentube reach more players and bring international titles to the local market. The partnership also shows the allure of South Africa to global suppliers. They view the nation as the continent’s most developed online gambling market.

Hollywoodbets built its reputation in South Africa by offering the best sports betting, online casino and live dealer experiences.

The company gives back to the country by supporting local sports and community projects. They currently sponsor rugby teams in South Africa.

Hollywoodbets has also played a key role in football development, promoting women’s sports and helping to create opportunities for young players.

They have focused on improving technology and customer experience, delivering features such as BetBuilder, which enables players to create unique wagers that combine different outcomes into one bet.

According to Wayde Dorkin, Head of Products at Hollywoodbets, embedding Greentube’s catalogue of slot games bolsters its casino offering, giving their customers high-quality gaming options.

He explained that offering well-known, engaging games is crucial for attracting new customers and keeping old players interested.

South Africa’s iGaming sector is becoming more competitive, forcing operators to think outside the box. These partnerships show the industry is adapting, with global suppliers working with local operators to meet growing demand.
