Social media banter follows Rev Fordjour’s comments that angered Bridget Otoo Social media banter follows Rev Fordjour’s comments that angered Bridget Otoo

The Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, has locked horns with Bridget Otoo, a presidential staffer at the Office of the President John Dramani Mahama, over the recent killing of Ghanaian tomato sellers in attacks in Burkina Faso.

The social media banter follows comments made by Rev Fordjour, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Assin South.

He shared videos of Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang dancing with some staff at Jubilee House, accompanied by a strongly worded caption.

In his post, he wrote, “Barely days after eight Ghanaian tomato traders were killed in a gory terrorist attack in Burkina Faso, and the injured are fighting for their lives, while cocoa farmers across the country are grieving over cruel cuts in cocoa prices, Jubilee House chose jubilation over mourning! They are happy! That’s really disappointing and heartbreaking! This is shameful!

“When NDC Ministers and functionaries died in a plane crash, these traders and farmers joined Jubilee House and the entire nation in mourning. Rather sadly, even after this government failed to repatriate the bodies of victims from Burkina Faso to their respective families for dignified burial, they further failed to mourn them and instead chose to jubilate. Insensitive government!”

His comment angered Bridget Otoo, who also doubles as a media personality.

She responded,” “You have zero integrity! Posting a doctored video over a programme about advancing the cause of women.

“ You have seen everything government has done in respect of the attack, which you don’t care about, but you are using people’s lives to score a cheap political point! Have some shame! I would be so embarrassed to have such a spineless and shameless person preach to me!”

Rev Fordjour fired back, stating, “@Bridget_Otoo, rather question the conscience of a government which will throw the seat of government into a state of jubilation, live music performance and a dance party when the nation is supposed to be grieving such gruesome losses.

“ I have no qualms about holding a forum on women’s empowerment at Jubilee House at this time. But to turn it into a live concert, dance party, and jubilation, I find most unconscionable!”

He added, “@Bridget_Otoo, another jubilation! This is even worse! The best in you has been brought out by such unfortunate circumstances??? This is most insensitive, Jubilee House!”
