Oburu Oginga Sends A Strong Message To Kenyans Spreading Fake News About His Health
ODM Director of Communications Etale has issued a statement addressing the spread of false information about the health of party leader Oburu Oginga.
In a communication shared on Tuesday evening, October 13, Etale said the family was distressed by the continued circulation of unverified reports concerning the senator’s health.
He noted that although Kenyans enjoy the freedom to express their views, such freedoms should be exercised responsibly, with consideration for the feelings and dignity of others.
According to Etale, Oburu is also disturbed by the reports circulating about his condition and has appealed to members of the public to allow him sufficient time to recover.
The ODM communications director explained that the party leader had undergone several weeks of treatment, both locally and abroad, and was now taking time to rest and regain his strength.
Etale conveyed Oburu’s wish that those spreading the reports would give him the necessary space to recuperate before returning to his normal activities.
The statement did not provide a specific date for his return to active public engagements, but expressed hope that he would regain his health and energy and resume his duties soon.
The communication comes amid public interest in the condition of the veteran politician, who took over ODM’s leadership following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Oburu, a long-serving politician and elder brother of Raila, remains an influential figure within the party as it navigates internal political developments and prepares for the 2027 General Election.
Etale urged Kenyans to exercise restraint when sharing information about other people’s health, warning against messages that could cause unnecessary distress to affected families.
He emphasised the importance of responsible communication, particularly when dealing with sensitive personal matters.
