Ndindi Nyoro Clears Air on John Methu’s Hotel Meeting Claims, Reveals Last Time They Spoke

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has disputed claims by Nyandarua Senator John Methu about a private meeting where the two allegedly discussed political plans involving the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).

Nyoro said their last conversation was during the Ol Kalou by-election, when he supported Methu’s campaign financially, challenging the senator’s account of a subsequent hotel meeting.

Addressing a rally in Kajiado on Tuesday, October 13, the lawmaker also urged opposition leaders to avoid personal attacks, insisting that they needed to remain united ahead of the 2027 General Election.

“Yesterday, I saw someone on TV claiming they talked with Ndindi Nyoro in a hotel. I am here and the last time we spoke was when I was giving him funds for Ol Kalou by-election,” Nyoro said.

He also criticised Methu’s recent remarks targeting opposition figures, accusing him of contributing to divisions within the political camp.

“The other day I saw another big mole on TV; he’s busy calling others in opposition projects and a mole,” the Kiharu MP stated.

Nyoro further urged opposition politicians to put aside their differences and focus on their common political ambitions.

“We are telling you, while in opposition, reduce your anger, envy and jealousy. We as opposition are united. Let’s stop lying,” he added.

His response followed Methu’s public account of an alleged political approach after the Ol Kalou by-election. The senator claimed that a person linked to the government invited him to a meeting and proposed that he establish a political party to challenge former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s influence.

Methu alleged that the proposal included Sh10 million to help mobilise aspirants, but maintained that he rejected the offer.

The senator said he subsequently consulted Nyoro, whom he considered a trusted ally, about the approach.

“I called Ndindi Nyoro and met him at a hotel. I told him these guys have offered me this because he’s a person I trust and my brother,” Methu said.

According to Methu, Nyoro advised him against forming another party, arguing that it could split opposition votes. He further claimed that Nyoro expressed interest in joining DCP, where he would take up a senior leadership position.

Methu said he offered to relinquish his role as DCP secretary-general to accommodate Nyoro within the party’s leadership.

However, the senator claimed he was later taken aback when Nyoro announced the formation of the People’s Party of Kenya (PPK), saying the move contradicted their alleged discussion.

Nyoro’s latest remarks have exposed conflicting accounts of the purported meeting as political realignments continue ahead of the 2027 elections.
