UK man pays elder brother ₦3m, gives ₦140m building contract to another engineer, brother brings thugs to destroy foundation

A Nigerian man living in the United Kingdom has reportedly been cut off by his mother and elder brother after awarding a ₦140 million building contract to another engineer instead of his sibling.

The story was shared by an X user, @GloriousGod01, who narrated how the disagreement allegedly escalated after the man chose not to award the contract to his elder brother, who is also an engineer.

According to the post, the man had obtained a quotation of about ₦140 million, excluding workmanship, from an engineer for his building project. He later contacted his elder brother, who quoted ₦150 million for the job.

The X user explained that when the man asked his elder brother about his profit margin, the engineer said he usually made between ₦10 million and ₦15 million per project but would accept between ₦3 million and ₦5 million because they were family.

The man reportedly requested his brother’s account details and transferred ₦3 million to him before eventually awarding the contract to the first engineer.

However, the elder brother allegedly became upset after discovering the decision and reported it to their mother.

The man reportedly explained that he did not want to mix family with business, adding that the ₦3 million he had already sent represented 60 per cent of the profit his brother said he would make.

The dispute allegedly escalated on the day the first engineer arrived at the construction site with his workers to begin the project.

According to @GloriousGod01, the man’s elder brother showed up with thugs and destroyed the building’s foundation.

The post claimed that the man subsequently had his elder brother arrested, with the engineer allegedly spending three days in custody.

The X user added that the elder brother did not return to the construction site before the building was completed.

The disagreement allegedly affected the man’s relationship with his family, as his mother reportedly stopped answering his calls.

Recounting the incident, @GloriousGod01 wrote:

“My guy who lives in the UK wanted to start his building project. He got a quotation from an engineer and everything came to about 140 million naira, excluding workmanship.

“His elder brother is also an engineer so he reached out to him. The elder brother quoted 150 million naira. When asked about his profit margin, he said 10 to 15 million naira per project but would take only 3 to 5 million since it was family.

“My friend said okay, requested his account details and sent him 3 million naira.

“Then he gave the contract to the first engineer.

“When the elder brother found out, he reported it to their mother. My friend told them plainly that he did not want to mix family with business and that the 3 million naira was already 60% of what his brother said he would have made.

“The day the engineer arrived at the site with his crew to begin work, the elder brother showed up with thugs and destroyed the foundation.

“My friend had him arrested for 3 days without food.

“He never went near the site again until the building was completed.

“His mother has refused to take his calls since then.

“He is opening the house tomorrow. His elder brother and mother have both cut him off.
