I Don’t Remember Beating Any of My Children — Actor Yinka Quadri Opens Up On His Parenting Style

Veteran Nollywood actor Yinka Quadri has revealed that he does not recall physically beating any of his children, whether older or younger, stressing that children can be raised and disciplined without resorting to corporal punishment. Quadri made the disclosure during an interview on the African A-List Podcast, shared on YouTube on Saturday, October 10, 2026.

The actor explained that his approach to raising children was influenced by the ways people were brought up, noting that parents could adopt different methods of training their children without necessarily beating them. “With all my children, both the older and the younger ones, I don’t remember beating them. There are ways we are also brought up,” he said.

Quadri went on to discuss his eldest daughter, Monsurat, explaining that he had a child before marrying his current wife. He also spoke about his daughter Lolade, whom he had with his former wife, popularly known as Mummy Lolade.

According to the actor, Monsurat is 43 years old, while Lolade is 37. He disclosed that both daughters have lived abroad since 2006, when Lolade was 16 years old. “For example, my first child Monsurat, she is 43 on her own mother’s side, because I had given birth before I got married to my latest wife, after I got married to her own mother,” Quadri stated.

The veteran actor also recounted how he entrusted his daughter to the care of a family he described as friends rather than relatives when she moved abroad. He added, “My first child with my ex-wife now, called Mummy Lolade. The child is called Lolade. She is 37. The two have been in abroad since 2006. That’s 20 years ago. She left when she was 16 years old.”

Quadri said the family looked after his daughter for years without reporting any problems involving her to him, an experience he cited while explaining his views on raising children. “The family I placed her with isn’t, is not my family. We were just friends. For the 12 years she spent with them, they never reported her to me,” he said.

He used his account of his relationship with his children and the arrangements made for his daughter abroad to reinforce his position that parenting involves different approaches to guiding and correcting children. “So there are ways at which you can train your child without beating them,” the actor concluded.
