I Am Older Than All The Governors And The President; When I Talk, I Talk To Them Like A Son- Edochie

According to a report by Daily Post on Friday, October 9, 2026, veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has spoken about his influence beyond the entertainment industry, explaining that his age and experience allow him to relate to Nigeria’s political leaders as a father figure.

Edochie made the remarks during an interview with TV3, where he discussed his relationship with people in positions of authority and his ability to draw their attention to issues affecting Nigerians.

The legendary actor explained that he considers himself older than many of the country’s political leaders, including state governors and President Bola Tinubu. He said this gives him the confidence to approach them and express his concerns when necessary.

During the interview, Edochie recalled an occasion when he appealed to the government to provide financial assistance to an ailing colleague. He explained that he used an interview conducted at his residence in Enugu State to draw attention to the actor’s medical condition and request support.

According to him, the government responded to his appeal by providing financial assistance to his colleague the following week.

Recounting the incident, Edochie said, “I was interviewed in my house in Enugu. During that period, one of my colleagues was ill, so I used that opportunity to call on the government to come to his aid.

“The following week, the government sent half a million naira to him. In the next six months, I will be turning 80. I am older than all the governors and the president, so when I talk to them, it is like a father talking to a son,” he stated.

His comments reflect his belief that age, experience and his longstanding reputation give him a platform to engage political leaders and advocate for people who need assistance.

Edochie has remained a prominent figure in Nigeria’s film industry for decades, earning recognition for his performances in numerous Nollywood productions. His latest remarks have also drawn attention to the potential role of respected public figures in bringing social concerns to the attention of government officials.
