Arsenal Superstar Ruled Out Injured For Four Weeks

According to a report by the Evening Standard on Friday, October 9, 2026, Chelsea have received a major fitness boost ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth, with manager Xabi Alonso set to welcome back several key players.

The Blues return to domestic action at Stamford Bridge after a 22-day break, having suffered a 3-0 defeat to Brentford in their final game before the international break. Alonso will be hoping to benefit from the return of important squad members as Chelsea prepare to face Marco Rose’s Bournemouth side.

Moises Caicedo, Reece James, Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and Marco Palestra are all available for selection after recovering from their respective fitness issues. Alonso confirmed during his pre-match press conference that the five players were ready to return, although their involvement from the start remains uncertain.

Joao Pedro missed Chelsea’s defeat to Brentford and Brazil’s international matches while recovering from a knee problem. The forward also consulted a specialist in London as he worked towards regaining full fitness.

Caicedo and James have also had injury concerns, while Palmer’s condition was closely monitored before the international break. Their return gives Alonso greater flexibility when deciding on his starting lineup against Bournemouth.

Chelsea are expected to adopt a 3-4-2-1 formation, although Alonso has switched between that setup and a 4-2-3-1 system in recent matches. His tactical approach could determine how the returning players are deployed.

Martinez is predicted to start in goal, with Wesley Fofana, Lacroix and Levi Colwill forming the defensive trio. Palestra and James are expected to occupy the wing-back positions, while Caicedo could partner Jorrel Hato in midfield.

Further forward, Morgan Rogers and Palmer are tipped to play behind Joao Pedro, who could lead the attack if selected. Palmer’s availability represents a particularly welcome boost as Chelsea seek to improve their attacking threat following the break.

However, the Blues will be without Jamie Gittens, who is expected to miss several weeks after suffering an ankle injury while representing England Under-21s. The winger reportedly left the stadium on crutches after a match against Kazakhstan.

Alonso’s limited use of Geovany Quenda and Estevao during Chelsea’s opening five Premier League fixtures has also raised questions about whether either youngster will receive significant playing time against Bournemouth.

Predicted Chelsea XI (3-4-2-1): Martinez; Fofana, Lacroix, Colwill; Palestra, James, Caicedo, Hato; Rogers, Palmer; Joao Pedro.

Chelsea will welcome Bournemouth to Stamford Bridge at 3pm BST on Saturday, October 10. The match will not be shown live on television in the United Kingdom because it falls within the traditional 3pm broadcasting blackout.
