Henry Quartey Hits Road Running

Henry Quartey

Former Interior Minister, Henry Quartey, has commenced campaign towards the 2028 polls by bringing together supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), assignment which he is undertaking in his Ayawaso Central Constituency in the Greater Accra Region.

During an engagement with delegates of the party in the aftermath of the recent presidential primary, he met with the ‘kingmakers’ to express gratitude to them for conducting themselves well and choosing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as flagbearer of the NPP.

His oratory skills rendered in Twi, Ga and English undoubtedly resonated with the delegates, as he drew intermittent applauds from his audience.

The delegates responded affirmatively in unison to the question as to whether or not they want his return as Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency.

Henry Quartey’s constant touching of base with the constituents in the constituency has stood him apart from others. Many young men and women have gained employment through his intervention and, this, many testified to in the constituency.

His lobbying for the tarring of previously untarred roads has exalted his image in the constituency.

At the mostly delegates engagement last Sunday in Alajo, in the Ayawaso Central Constituency, he said there are no longer factions in the party but only the NPP, “and therefore all should come together as members of one political party – the NPP.”

It was an interactive engagement during which delegates delivered suggestions and expressed concerns about issues, to which the former MP and Minister responded.

As one of the frontrunners in the Bawumia campaign team in the Greater Accra Region, coupled with his performance in the Interior and National Security ministries, Henry Quartey commands a deserving deference.

His affability was visible when at the end of the programme delegates took turns to exchange pleasantries with the man who has touched many lives in the constituency.

His organisational prowess showed evidently when Hajia Samira Bawumia visited the Ayidiki Presbyterian Church to talk to delegates ahead of the January 31, 2026 polls of the party.
