Di High Court for Ghana don rule on di appeal from lawyers of former fetish priestess Patricia Asiedu wey be popular as ‘Agradaa’.

Di circuit court on 3 July 2025 jail di televangelist for 15 years sake of she use her TV station and church to defraud pipo of dia money.

Di court find say di former fetish priestess wey now become evangelist, use religion to advertise and collect money from pipo wit di tori say she go double di cash for dem.

She dey call di spiritual money-doubling trick ‘sika gari’, wey she allegedly take defraud some of her church members and oda pipo.

Reason why di high court reduce di sentence

Di High court for Amasaman wey reduce di sentence from 15 years to one year, tok say di original punishment “be excessive”.

Dis be afta her lawyers appeal di 15-year jail term.

Dem argue say di punishment by di court and di offense wey Agradaa commit, no dey match.

Di court use dia discretion to review di sentence wey dem tok say for her offence, she gatz to serve sometime for jail, but di 15 years be too much.

Di court add say even though her offence be bad, di original ruling “go beyond wetin be reasonable punishment for her, even though di conviction dey according to law.”

At di time dem jail her, many pipo tok say na good tin to serve as example to odas wey dey use religion to defraud pipo.

Odas add say di 15-year jail term be too much.

Afta dat judgment in July, her lawyers describe am as “travesty of justice.”

Lawyer Richard Asare Baffour tok say “dem bin jail Agradaa no be sake of wetin she do, but sake of who she be.”

Wit dis new ruling afta di appeal, Agradaa wey already serve seven months for prison go stay inside jail for five months, instead of 15 years.

Afta di ruling, husband of di former fetish priestess, Prophet Angel Asiamah tok journalists for di court say he make happy.

He wear one shirt under his outfit wey dem write “pray every day” for top.

As dem, carry his wife enta police car back to di Nsawam prison, oga Asiamah respond to fans and supporters wey gada for di court wit di tin dem write for his shirt.

Why dem jail Agradaa in di first place

For 2021, police arrest Agradaa say she dey operate two TV stations (Thunder TV and Ice TV) illegally.

Dem charge her wit seven counts wey include charlatanic advertisement contrary to section 137(1) of act 29 and defrauding by false pretences contrary to section 131(1) of di same act.

Di circuit court judge Evelyn Asamoah jail her for 15 years on 3 July 2025, for wetin many pipo tok say ibi good tin to stop fraudulent spiritual scams wey full local TV stations and social media.

Afta di hearing wey last for four years, di circuit court rule say Agradaa dey guilty of using her TV station and her church to defraud plenty pipo of dia money.

Patricia Asiedu aka Agradaa be former fetish priestess wey advertise everywia say she dey double money wit her spiritual charm.

She later tok say she repent as fetish priestess wia she don accept Jesus.

Na so she allow make some ogbonge men of God burn wetin she describe as idols for her shrine.

She say she don become born again.

She now set up di heaven way international church.

Since 2022, she and her husband bin dey run di church wey dem get followers.

Most Sundays, she dey preach about prosperity to her church members.

Nana Agradaa be popular on top social media wey she get many followers.
